Its been awhile

I know I haven't posted anything in a few days, almost a week actually. I just got burned out. I'm trying to launch my graphic design business, so I've been doing a lot of work with logos, web design, printing projects, etc. I've been working on projects for a couple of new clients and we are leaving for the Gettysburg paranormal conference in a couple of days. So, I've been trying to get our logo, t-shirts, website, and business cards finished before we go.

I just didn't have time to post my food log every day and to be completely honest, I kind of felt weighed down by it. I've been "dieting" for 2 months now and I've seen very little progress. I've lost a total of 6 pounds. 6 POUNDS!! I feel like I've been busting my butt for very little pay off and it gets tiring. I know the saying, "you didn't gain it overnight so you won't lose it overnight", but really I'd like to see more than what I have.

I'm in the 2 week wait right now, so my nerves are a little shot. I obsess about everything, but that is just my nature. I'm hoping it works this month, because from here we move on to medicated cycles. I'd like to say that we did it naturally but it is what it is I guess. I do know that my doctor is completely ok with me continuing to exercise and eat healthy (limit calories) once I am pregnant so I won't have to completely stop what I'm doing.

So, I have started my food journal again today. I can't guarantee that I'll get around to posting it everyday but at least I'll still be keeping track for myself. I may do "bulk" postings where I post my food log for several days at a time. We'll see how it works out.

Week 10 Weigh-In and Food Log

Week 10, only 2 weeks to go.

I'm really not following the Body for Life Challenge plan anymore. As the weeks passed by, I adjusted the diet to fit my own needs. The diet was originally made for body builders, so it is very high on carbs and protein. It did not take calories into account at all. I have since tweaked it to include lean meats, fish, and vegetarian options. I've also decided to cut my calories down to about 1400 (although it seems I do better with 1500), I've cut out most of my sugar, and almost all of my caffeine intake. I still need to work on cutting out my fat intake, it is way too high. I plan to buy a food scale too. I realized the other day just how off my serving sizes really are and I think have a scale to measure out "4 oz of beef" would be helpful.

I've changed the workout routine as well. Instead of doing 20 minutes of cardio 3 days a week, I am doing about an hour of cardio 3 days a week. I am still doing 3 days of strength training but I've tweaked those workouts as well. The original workout has you doing 5 sets of reps using higher weights each set with fewer reps for each exercise. So you start with 10 pounds weights at 12x, then 12 pounds weights 10x, 15 pounds 8x, 20 pounds 6x, and then back down to 10 pounds 12x. This is great for building bulk, but I don't want bulk I want to lose weight. So I now do 5 sets of 12 reps each using one size weight.

I will not be stopping at the end of the 12 weeks. This has been a kick-start for me and I plan on continuing until I've reached my goal weight of 140 pounds. I have quite a ways to go, so I'll most likely be doing this for over a year.

So here are the stats for this week.

Weight - 237.4 (-2 pounds)
Hips - 46.5 (-1 inch)
Waist - 37.5 (no change)
Bust - 36.5 (no change)
Biceps - 13.5 (-.5 inch)
Thighs - 26 (+.5 inch)
Calves - 16 (no change)

I'm hoping that my lack of loss in measurements is due to the fact that I lost so much size in the beginning and now my weight is catching up. I seem to be on the right track with losing around 2 pounds a week.

Yesterday's food log.

Food Log

Each food log posted will be for the day before. I am still a day away from my "official" weigh-in day but so far I've lost 1.6 pounds this week. Not too shabby.

Food Log

This is my food log for yesterday. I've decided to just copy and past my food diary from TheDailyPlate.com instead of transferring the data to an excel spreadsheet. It is just easier this way.

Week 9 Weigh-In

Ok, ok. I know I'm late. I haven't posted my food log in a few days and I should have posted my weigh in on Wednesday. I've been stressing out about my insurance and some medical stuff going on and just didn't have time to blog. I did weigh and measure on Wednesday so these totals are correct for this week. I'll start the food log again today.

Weight - 239.4 (no change)
Hips - 47.5 inches (-.5 inch)
Waist - 37.5 inches (-.5 inch)
Bust - 35.5 inches (-.5 inch)
Bicep - 14 inches (no change)
Thighs - 25.5 inches (no change)
Calves - 16 inches (no change)

My weight this week is looking good so far, I'm anxious to see how much I lose by Wednesday. I really need to watch my calorie intake more and I need to get back on the exercise train. I've decided to tweak my workouts so that I'm doing more cardio and less strength training. I think that will be more efficient for weight loss. We'll see how it goes.

Food Log

My blog was not working correctly yesterday, so I wasn't able to post my food log. It was a pretty good day. I had to really push myself to finish my workouts, I was exhausted. I stayed on track with calories.

Food Log

We went out to eat tonight. We had a PEPPR (our ghost hunting group) meeting at Olive Garden. I don't really like Olive Garden. The food is not that great, the service is usually pretty poor, I can't eat most of what's on the menu because of all the dairy they use, and everything is loaded with salt. I looked up the menu on the daily plate and had settled on the Venetian Apricot Chicken. It is a grilled chicken dish with steamed veggies. It totals 448 calories. I was going to allow myself a small salad and 1 bread stick. My plan flew out the window once I sat down with the menu. I ended up ordering Chicken Gnocchi, substituting the alfredo sauce for a garlic butter sauce (not much better calorie wise). It was over almost 1000 calories. Then to top it off, I ordered dessert. I knew better and did it anyway. I suck. So here is my very bad, over by 500 calories, food log for today.

Food Log and Medical Update

Yesterday was free day and boy did I live it up. I didn't start out the day thinking that I was going to eat so much junk food, it just ended up that way. I ended up making myself feel really sick too. Today, I'm bloated and retaining water from all of the salt I ate yesterday. When will I ever learn?

I was really nervous about my doctor's appointment yesterday. I had blood work done on Friday to check my hormone levels. Yesterday's appointment was to do an ultrasound to check out my ovaries and make a decision about whether I should start Clomid or have an HSG test done first.

My blood work came back the same as the first time. My LH was much higher than my FSH, indicating PCOS. My FSH was at 2.7, 2.4 is the lowest end of the "normal" range. This means that my body is not producing enough of that hormone to "push" my eggs to be fully mature and release. Meaning that when I ovulate, the egg(s) are not fully mature and can not be fertilized. My Estradiol (estrogen) test was not complete so I don't know how high it was.

My ovaries looked completely healthy. I had 6 eggs on each ovary. They are still very small (immature) but we are hoping that some of them do well this month.

The plan now is to have yet another blood test done this coming Friday to recheck my hormone levels. All of my hormones should be higher than they were this past Friday (because the closer you get to ovulation the higher the levels get). I will also do the HSG on Friday afternoon. Hopefully, my hormone levels will show that my eggs are maturing and my HSG will not show any blockages in my fullopian tubes. The doctor will also measure the eggs to see how far along they are.

If the eggs look like they are mature enough on their own to release and be fertilized, we will forgo drugs this month. If the eggs look like they need a "push" to become mature enough, then the doctor will prescribe Clomid to help things along.

I'm glad we have a plan. I'm nervous about the HSG, I've heard it can be pretty painful. It's all just a waiting game now.

Food Log

I forgot to post yesterday's food log. I was really not hungry yesterday. I felt pretty icky after the blood test and just felt like sleeping. I think I'm stressing out about what is going to happen at the doctor today. I'm nervous that she is going to find something really wrong. I'm also nervous about the fact that if I start Clomid today, I could very well be pregnant in a couple of weeks. Crazy.

Food Log

Today was a pretty good day. I had a good workout, even though I really had to push myself to get through it. I'm having a yet another blood test done tomorrow and then Saturday I have a doctor's appointment to see if I will be starting Clomid that day or not. Fingers crossed that all goes well and we have a successful cycle this month.

Food Log

I just wasn't feelin' it today. Vince worked until 9pm and I tend to keep munching when I'm home by myself. I also had cramps from hell today and really did not feel like working out, so I didn't. I'm over my calories by around 400. Oh well, tomorrow's another day.

Week 8 Weigh In

So here we are, 8 weeks into the diet. I don't feel like I've made huge leaps and bounds in progress but this week was much better than previous weeks. I'm hoping this is a new trend that will continue through the weeks and months.

Here are the numbers for this week:

Weight - 239.4 (-1.8 pounds) This is the most I've lost in a week so far.
Hips - 48 inches (no change)
Waist - 38 inches (-.5 inch)
Bust - 36 inches (no change)
Arms - 14 inches (no change)
Thighs - 25.5 inches (-.5 inches)
Calves - 16 inches (-.5 inches)

My weigh loss was great this week but I'm lacking in size/measurement loss. I hope that gets better as the weeks go on. I really want to lose as much weight as I can before getting pregnant. I'm aiming to keep losing around 2 pounds per week.

Food Log

Today wasn't too bad. The veggie burgers were pretty disgusting. I don't think I'll be trying that recipe again. The remaining burgers went in the trash. The turkey burgers tonight were pretty good but a little bit on the salty side. I'll keep looking for a good recipe on those. I probably should have cut my dessert portion in half. The Body for Life challenge says that what I ate was 1 serving but at 421 calories it seems like way too much. I'll be cutting down on that in the future. Tomorrow is my first weigh in since starting Glucophage and my food log. I'm nervous to see how it will turn out.

Food Log

Today was awesome. I was under my 1400 calories and I got in 5.5 miles on the elliptical. I'm exhausted but feel great.

I noticed that the "black tea" that I was entering in on The Daily Plate was actually for tea with sugar in it. That is why is had 66 calories. I changed the entry to just plain black tea. I add 2 packets of Splenda, which has 0 calories. So the new total for my tea is 2 calories instead of 66.
